Our Accreditation

The Johannesburg Business School sets high standards in both research and teaching. Our online and face-to-face Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration with a Digital Transformation lens (PGDip BA), online and face-to-face Master of Business Administration with a Digital Transformation lens (MBA) and face-to-face Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) in Digital Transformation are all accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).

Programme and Institutional Accreditation of the JBS

Our MBA is accredited nationally by the Council for Higher Education, and we have the backing of the internationally recognised University of Johannesburg. We are working towards aligning our MBA with the requirements of the international accrediting agencies. However, to apply for international accreditation, our MBA has to have graduated three cohorts of students. Our first intake was in 2020, therefore, it will be two years before we can apply for international accreditation with AMBA, AACSB and EQUIS.

In 2022, JBS will be applying for the institutional “BGA Validation” international accreditation from the Business Graduates Association (BGA) in the UK (AMBA’s sister organisation). In addition, the JBS will be making an application to the Association of African Business Schools (AABS) in 2022 for institutional regional accreditation status.

Deans Across Frontiers

In 2021, the JBS announced its formal agreement with EFMD to participate in the EDAF – EFMD GN Deans Across Frontiers programme, which is a unique quality improvement system which assists fledgling business schools in further development through a mentoring process of the senior management team. In summary, the EDAF programme is assisting the JBS in development, consultancy and mentoring by an experienced international Dean through a flexible system, taking into account the diversity between the school’s institutional model, our country and variety of cultures in South Africa. This process is aimed at assisting the JBS strive towards excellence and be more impactful in the management development community, as well as prepare the school for international accreditation applications through strategic alignments with international agency standards and criteria.
