Dr. Akinola Segun Ayokunle
Dr. Akinola Segun Ayokunle is an accomplished academic and industry expert, recognized as the 2023 Awardee for Outstanding Achievement in Research and Academic Citizenship at the University of Johannesburg. His expertise spans research, teaching, digital transformation, and project management consultancy, grounded in strategic insight and a distinguished record in both education and research.
Currently affiliated with the University of Johannesburg/Johannesburg Business School, Dr. Akinola has lectured at the University of Johannesburg and Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science, and Technology. His professional journey includes senior-level positions across multiple industries, notably at Samsung West Africa (MSV Limited), where he progressed from Engineer to Deputy Senior Manager.
Dr. Akinola’s international collaborations include adjunct professorships with Damascus University alongside Professor Homam Khwanda and previously with Professor Dr. Vijayakumar Varadarajan at D Y Patil University. Since 2016, he has held corporate memberships with the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) and Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). Following his master’s degree, he established Asam Integrated Resources Limited, an engineering firm in Nigeria. Remarkably, he also became the youngest elected Assistant Secretary General of the Nigeria Society of Engineers in Ekiti State.
Dr. Akinola is a member of prominent organizations, including the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE), the Nigeria Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (NIEEE), and the International Association of Engineers (IAENG). Passionate about developing talent, he has mentored numerous students in both Nigeria and South Africa and is currently supervising postgraduate students to PhD level.
