Management Acceleration Programme Plus (MAP+)

The MAP+ programme prepares you for the digitally transformed world. It positions you for management and leadership in a growing business. With a focus on the opportunities and challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), MAP+ will cover a range of critical disciplines and practices to build your next-level abilities.

  • Duration: 5 months
  • Intakes: 2 per annum
  • Intake 2 Application Open: 7 June 2022

The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) is redefining the way businesses operates. It is about more than increasing the application of technology to the existing world of work. It is about fusing the physical, digital and biological worlds and transforming them. No discipline, industry or economy will escape this transformation. The 4IR will challenge values, philosophies and practices, from ideas about the future of our work, through to what it will mean for us to be human.

These changes are a part of digital transformation, the focus of the Johannesburg Business School (JBS). Digital transformation is about adapting to the challenges of the 4IR. It recognises that growth will increasingly focus on sustainable and inclusive development. Each of us will need to reconcile complex new tensions and dilemmas along the way.

The 4IR represents a fundamental change in the way we live, work and relate to one another. It is a new chapter in human development, enabled by extraordinary technology advances commensurate with those of the first, second and third industrial revolutions. These advances are merging the physical, digital and biological worlds in ways that create both huge promise and potential peril.

The speed, breadth and depth of this revolution is forcing us to rethink how countries develop, how organisations create value and even what it means to be human. The 4IR is about more than just technology-driven change; it is an opportunity to help everyone, including leaders, policy-makers and people from all income groups and nations, to harness converging technologies in order to create an inclusive, human-centred future. The real opportunity is to look beyond technology, and find ways to give the greatest number of people the ability to positively impact their families, organisations and communities.

Our Teaching Approach

MAP+ is designed with an outcomes-based, learner-centred approach in mind. It strives to provide you with management training that is relevant to your career.
Rather than a traditional academic programme, MAP+ is aligned to the real world of business in the 4IR. The programme stresses developing creativity and curiosity, with a firm orientation towards coming up with solutions for the multiplicity of challenges that you will encounter, individually or in cooperation with others. You will at all times find a clear link between the classroom and your career.

To encourage peer learning, you will be assigned to a syndicate group. You will meet regularly for online discussions, to consider the material you are engaging with and to work on joint projects.

In addition, JBS offers a customised in-house MAP+ option for corporate clients.
