We are an incubation centre that provides entrepreneurship courses with a focus on the needs of Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) start-ups and existing businesses from economically disadvantaged communities.

We have reimagined entrepreneurship development by harnessing technology to develop digitally empowered entrepreneurs: our short learning programmes are offered in a virtual incubation model and we offer online coaching and support, as well as online access to markets and financing opportunities.

At the Johannesburg Business School Centre for Entrepreneurship, we aim to:

  • Foster a culture of entrepreneurship among students

  • Build future-fit entrepreneurs

  • Challenge the entrepreneurship landscape with thought leadership and innovation

  • Create future leaders in social impact and economic growth

  • Develop bridges from past ground-breakers to future entrepreneurs

As part of the University of Johannesburg, our goal is to be an international tertiary institution of choice in Africa, recognised for excellence in research, innovation, knowledge building and collaboration.

What makes us different

The Johannesburg Business School Centre for Entrepreneurship (JBSCE) was established in 2006 by the University of Johannesburg. Over the years, the JBSCE has become an entrepreneurship hub of excellence that facilitates business development for Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) not only in South Africa but the entire African continent.

Our core objective as the JBSCE is to develop and support a new breed of future-fit entrepreneurs. We are therefore dedicated to providing the best affordable short learning courses in entrepreneurship. At JBSCE we have reimagined entrepreneurship development by harnessing technology to develop digitally empowered SMME start-ups and existing businesses from economically disadvantaged communities.

Through our Integrated Business Development Model (IBDM) that broadly encompasses the tenets of an evolving entrepreneurship system, we have been able to consistently produce impactful results with all our entrepreneurship courses.

At JBSCE we are determined to empower our entrepreneurs with relevant skills to be ‘future-fit’ so that they can significantly contribute to different sectors of the economy. To date, we have equipped several entrepreneurs with contemporary entrepreneurship training that is essential for mitigating business challenges in the digital era.

We encourage entrepreneurs, academics, sponsors, partners and other stakeholders to take part in our programmes and events as we reimagine the future of entrepreneurship.
